Singing  –  Our singing group meets for rehearsals at irregular intervals during the year, the focus is on having a great time with beloved music.

Handicraft  –  We also have a small handicraft group which comes together at even more irregular intervals !

Walking –  More regular !   One Midsummer Walk  and one Midwinter Walk.   The next walk will take place in June 2014.

Reading Circles  –  We have both Danish and Swedish reading circles.   The Swedish group has been meeting for 20 years !    We have read:  Gregorius by Bengt Ohlsson, Doktor Glas by Hjalmar SöderbergSprängaren by Liza Marklund, Nässlorna blomma by Harry Martinson (Nobel laureate in 1974), Hoppsan, jag är död by Arto Paasilinna.

Cookery Book – Our cookery book What the York Anglo-Scandinavians like to eat  was a huge success and produced a substantial contribution to the CoScan Travel Awards.  The recipes were collected and edited by Karen Christmas and Brita Green.

Jorvik Viking Festival  – The society normally participates in the annual festival held in central York each February.  Activities have included:   Story Telling at the Mansion House,   an Exhibition of Scandinavian Crafts,   and illustrated talks on places like Arctic Norway.
